Terms of Use

Who we are. Lua is made by an independent team based in India. Contact: support@trylua.com.

Governing law. These terms are governed by the laws of India. Disputes are handled by the courts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.

1. What Lua is

Lua is a Mac video editor in free alpha. Features may change, break or disappear. The AI features (transcription, the edit assistant, b-roll research) and Instagram publishing run through our server and third-party providers (see the Privacy Policy); they need an internet connection and free credits. Editing and exporting work offline; the AI features do not.

2. Your account

You sign in with Google or an email code. Keep your login to yourself; you are responsible for everything done under your account. We may block accounts that abuse the service. If you delete your account, everything we hold about you is deleted (see the Privacy Policy).

3. Free alpha credits

New accounts get 2 free videos and 500 free credits (about $5 of provider cost) for transcription and the AI assistant. Credits have no cash value: they cannot be bought, sold, transferred or refunded, and unused credits expire if the alpha ends. We may change the grant, how use is measured, or the limits, and we may add paid plans later.

4. Acceptable use

Do not break the law; try to break into the service or other people’s accounts; resell or share accounts; overload the service; remove watermarks you are not entitled to remove; or use Lua to publish spam, abuse, or content that infringes someone else’s rights.

Your b-roll and sources are your responsibility. If you use footage you do not own — a creator’s clip, a film scene, stock, music — you must have the right to use it. Lua does not clear rights for you, and you are responsible for what you publish with it.

5. Your content stays yours

You own your projects, footage and exports. You give us only the limited permission needed to run the features you use (for example, sending audio for transcription, or an export to Instagram). We claim no ownership over your work.

6. No warranty

Lua is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for any particular purpose. Alpha software can lose work — keep your own backups of your footage and project files.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to Lua is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months. We are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, including lost footage, lost work or lost revenue.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using Lua at any time and delete your account. We may suspend or end your access, with or without notice, if you break these terms, abuse the service, or if the alpha ends. When your access ends, your right to use Lua ends and any free credits are forfeited.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. We will post changes here and, for important changes, in the app. Using Lua after a change takes effect means you accept the new terms.
